Athol SDA Church 3200 South Athol Road Athol, MA 01331 978-249-3490 * Please do not mail to this address 9:00 AM Saturdays
Set up on a hill, surrounded by woodlands, this small country church is in a beautiful location. Athol is a small town on the North West border of Worcester County in Massachusetts. Once a bustling mill town, now Athol is a quaint little, out of the way retreat in God's country. Our last numbers show the population just under twelve thousand people. Camping, hiking and canoeing are popular activities here. In fact, there is an annual canoe race, the River Rat Race, that brings enthusiast and spectators in from miles around.
You can often find a small group of church members taking a leisurely stroll on a Sabbath afternoon, enjoying conversation, nature and wildlife... several members are into bird watching. There are several hiking trails within minutes of the church. The Quabbin Reservoir is just down the street, and several conservation lands are nearby. Tully Lake is a popular recreation spot for many people in Athol.
We are about a half an hour away from the New Hampshire border and the South Eastern border of Vermont. Amherst Ma is a college town just over half an hour away. To visit Boston will take you about a two hour drive East... and the Berkshires are just under that to the west. Springfield is about an hour ride to the South. Our sister city is Orange, Ma... They are probably best known for their skydiving club. It is the site of the nation's first commercial skydiving center. It is quite the site to see the colorful parachutes slowly descending through the blue sky on a warm summer day.
We hope that you would consider joining us! We are look forward to meeting you... :)
